What welding projects are you working on? Are you proud of something you built?
How about posting some pics so other welders can get some ideas?

I put together a bifold driveway gate this week. Our 3 dogs make it difficult for wife's clients to enter the backyard without worrying about escape. This gate provides an airlock/dog-free zone to ease the process. It collapses easily along the fence allowing for easy passing of our vehicles.

I didn't have much room to sink a stout post to hang the cantilevered gate on so I used the 4x4 wooden post in the fence. I was concerned about hanging a lot of weight on the lumber post so I was looking for a way to support the gate while extended. I also wanted a simple way to anchor the sections in place without drilling holes in concrete (no cane bolts). I didn't like the off-the-shelf spring-loaded gate anchors (Speeco) as they were too bulky so I fabbed something similar. The bolts slide down easily but don't retract without pushing the release. Works well as a support and as an anchor. The front of the box acts as the release.

1.5" - 16gauge tubing. weld-on barrel hinges. black hammered-finish paint.

Thanks! I'm getting better at my TIGing and have finally made something useful for the house that's not for my workshop. The gate has definitely made life simpler around the house and the guests all appreciate it. My wife likes it so much that it looks like I will now modify the main gate (seen in background) to have a similar look. Happy wife allows me to justify new toys
