I used to build a lot of things like that for the artists and interior designers; put their concepts into 3D iron. It was fun, I got to charge a lot of money and the pices were completely "one ups"!

The very first interview I did to be an instructor at a Community College was in Green Bay, WI. I had a lot of fun with the interview, and the welding department head told me that I "HAD" to come visit his shop, which I did the next day at 7:00 AM!. I was sure I had the job ... but didn't get it! Anyway, the school had these large metal sculptures on the grounds. I was asked about them. I replied that I was great at building the concept that someone else developed, and worked well with the design/artist types, but I was not great at generating the ideas for myself. They asked me what I 'thought' of the sculptures. Well, I asked them if they wanted my real answer, or my 'political' answer. They all laughed at that and asked me for the 'real' answer. I told them that I felt the sculptures would be put to better use for oxy/fuel cutting torch practice. Maybe that is why I didn't get the gig?

Anyway ... I ended up in a good spot!

Nice sculpture.

You are more creative than I am - my idea of a perfect sculpture is a cube.....

A neighbour is a famous sculptor - he has done several war memorials, and I am often invited in to see his latest work.
I am in awe of his ability to make things so realistic and meaningful.
He says he's in awe of my ability to make things ( like gates, beach buggies etc)!

That reminds me - I need to pop in and weld up his new gates....
