Here is a railing I just finished and installed on Sunday
Scrolls were bent in the shop, all cuts with a bandsaw, 1963 Airco did the tig welding, I just watched
What welding projects are you working on? Are you proud of something you built?
How about posting some pics so other welders can get some ideas?

To weld on bolting tabs, and locate the holes in the posts to weld, I use one flat piece of metal to bolt the tabs to for welding, and to lay on the posts to transfer punch.
This way I only have to measure once and they fit perfect

That's fine work!
It's been years since I did any decorative balustrades and banistrades, and mine were rarely so decorative. Maybe a custom gate or two.
It kind-of makes me miss the work; To have the outcome be artistic, rather than merely functional.

Thanks Steve
Not my usual sort of job, but I like how it all worked out - a little creative "artsy" work is kind of nice
....wait, is there such a thing as a "usual" anything?
Having to make it fit within about 1/8" all around was a little stressful though I have to admit.

I thought CAD stood for "crayons and desks", and I have a light-powered calculator like you show in the last image.
It doubles as a graphics engine.

Dave,
I'm going to tell you like I tell my kids, take care of your shit and it will last longer. I have one of those pencils that you have in the last picture and it has been used every day since 1996, no kidding, same one.
Nice work and I hope it took you longer than just one Sunday to build and install that or I must be doing things wrong.

You are very skilled, that came out great!
I really don't have much experience with this type of work - I normally just do random repairs and small stuff for people just to keep the red in my checkbook a little smaller
Thank you very much, I consider an "Artisan" to be high praiseTRACKRANGER wrote:Real Nice!

The pen as a "light powered" calculator, and the pen and rule as a "graphics engine" went past a LOT of techie types.
