All Weld Candle Holder

Tried my hand at weld art today, this votive candle holder is made completely out of ER70S2 rod except for the 2"x3"x 1/4" plate I used for the base. My wife and I agreed not to buy each other gifts this year but I never said I wouldn't make her something. I was going to give it to her on Christmas but she caught me in the act so it's currently residing in the downstairs bathroom.
I suggest trying it, it was great practice feeding rod and controlling heat input.
Tell me what you guys think. I've always had vision for building things and can draw half decent but never tried to sculpt anything.

I think Cole or I could have gotten away with it, but we are both sneakier than you!!! Seriously, it looks cool though. I'm sitting here at work and Dave said, and I quote: "That looks fucking sweet."

Also, don't sell yourself short. There are few people I know that can draw even half as good as you can (I guess that would make them a quarter decent if you think you're only half decent)

Len,
Looks great! How sweet of you. I made a little man the other day out of 4943 and gave it to my son. I have no idea where it is now. Might have to make another one.

@craig,
At my age she would have to watch me every minute of the day because that act is usually over in under a minute.

It sure does - but it really beats the alternative!

That looks sweet.
How many rods did you burn up doing that?

I think I had around eight 36"x 3/32" and one 36"x1/6" in total. I cut them in half usually so that's a pretty close guess.

I was thinking about trying something like that.
I had never seen it before and really like the effect. The candle holder looks very organic!
