What welding projects are you working on? Are you proud of something you built?
How about posting some pics so other welders can get some ideas?

Anyone build a weld tester? Would just be for personal use.

Sorry, not sure what you're asking for, can you explain further?

I put my oscilloscope on my welders. Outside of that, you are the "tester".

Lots of motor rebuild shops can load test a welder.
I have more questions than answers

You guys are being silly now. You know very well the OP means weld not welder testing.

He probably means some kind of combined mechanical and sonic tester like this:

You hit the weld and if it doesn't fall off it passes the mechanical test. At the same time if it sends out a clear note, it passes the sonic test. If the sound is dull that means there are inclusions and you have to grind it out.

It was developed and available, l believe, in California where other methods of inspection are known to be carcenogenic.
Be aware that ever since Nick Fury put his eye out weld testing on the flying carrier, it's mandatory you wear non carcenogenic safety glasses.
