I think a nice rib eye steak would break it in nicely! Nice job!

That's slicker than socks on a rooster right there!
As soon as I get my table welded up, I'm going to start on a vertical offset smoker to replace my old horizontal smoker.

great job on the grill work.after looking at your design i was thinking of how it would be if you made two grill so you could sandwich the meat in them and just rotate the grill. i have been thinking of making a sandwich type grill for my pit.i leave the lid open on my pit when grilling and just keep flipping the meat over but when i have 60+ chicken wings on it it sorta wears me out flipping them over so they dont burn.

I get hungry just looking at it , nice work Craig.

Just don't forget to put something with less thermal conductivity on the handle ;)

Anders
handle is hollow and stays reasonably cool.

Fio
have only used it that one time so far. weather hasn't been nice enough
to try cooking on it. cooking grate has 3 height adjustments and i'm
going to add a expanded grate for charcoal soon.
grilling season is coming!

I'm contemplating a similar thing. Your set up looks good though.

Looks awesome Craig, what are the dimensions of those side panels? We have a old Whalen fire pit that has seen better days, thinking about making something a little more heavy duty than a store bought one. :)
