What welding projects are you working on? Are you proud of something you built?
How about posting some pics so other welders can get some ideas?

Forge welded a piece of good tool steel into the center of some railroad spikes and then forged them into blades. Just something to play with - welded yes, with machine no - by hammer, by eye, by hand. Sharper than an old woman's tongue.

Nice work Bill.
Some of the most fun I've had metalworking was making pattern welded Damascus with my dad for his knife making venture. His favorite I think though was hand forging blades...just a simple forge, hammer, & anvil. Miss them days.

Those look awesome! We are just putting a blacksmith shop together at work and I'm excited about trying my hand at forge welding. From my research so far it seems like so many other old world skills in that you just can't read yourself into know what to do.
That being said, if there are any good resources you guys know of I'm all ears.

I've not yet attempted to forge weld.
I may, however, have welded under a forged certification once...

I don't know about that Otto Nobedder guy, seems a little shady.

PS
The first time I watched a man forge tools and other items was in Williamsburg,VA.
The second time I watched a man forge tools was at the San Francisco Exploratorium, I was fascinated, what a fulfilling job
to perform. I also think it would be a great way to work out frustration, as well as strengthen your tennis arm.
