Thanks guys! Hey glen you have a nice saw there..it is still on my wish list unfortunately prices of dry cut saw here in the philippines are way too high.
We have a chop saw at our shed and i will make one of these ASAP.
We have at present a chute but too many sparks are flying over the top. A safety issue really because we have a lot of unwanted people hanging around while we try and do work. You get that at Men's sheds guys wanting to learn, i like rubber necks and hecklers i don't.
Thanks for putting up the photos mate they are brilliant.
Cheers
Dave

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the advice mate. I made a couple of screens to keep some of the tossers out but even that didn't work for one persistent person. He pushed the curtain out of the road while i was grinding and got covered ( showered ) in sparks.
Bloody fella still likes to stick his beak in but not while i am doing anything. He may have got the hint.
Cheers
Dave

Just had a idea to add some electronics and a shopvac.
Make that chute, connect it to a spiral collector to let things cool before being sucked up by a shopvac.
Setup some electronics that start the shopvac when you start the saw, then a timer circuit to keep the shopvac going for several seconds after the saw stops. Could also add a bypass switch to just leave the shopvac on.
I have managed to secure a couple of pieces of 100 x 100 mm RHS Galvanised post which i have not had time to do much with because of a whole heap of jobs that keep getting thrown at me.
I have managed to cut them but thats it at this stage. Cant wait to get right into it.
