hi guys. i'm new on the forum, hoping to learn alittle something. thanks for having me. i have a lincoln weld-pak hd model IM768-A. what i needed to know about is i was welding on a lawnmower deck and ran out of wire. how do i get the old wire out. do i put whats left over out wit pliers or do i put a new spool in it and feed the new wire through it and push the old wire out with the new after i install new spool. is there a preference or how do i do it? this will only be my 2nd time to respool. thanks for any info on this.

Thats it mate, If the wire end is still conected to the spool, you can snip the gun end and wind the left over back on to the spool. If not, trim the feed end to remove any bent bits and pull it through. Be careful of wayward wire, it likes to spring around. Eye protection is a very good idea.

Whatever you do , don't try to push out the old wire with the new. It won't work. Yank the old wire out of the liner and feed the new wire in. Like Mike said, watch your eyes. Those loose wire ends are dangerous.

I have managed to push the wire out of the gun with the new reel. In an industrial machine with excellent feeder set up. However it was THE. GREATEST. THING. IN.MY.CAREER....EVER
