Wondering if you can mig weld a cast aluminum boat seat base to a 3/16 aluminum plate?
With spool gun? Thanks

That's "iffy", and depends on the alloys. I don't MIG cast steel. I won't say it's impossible, but you'll need better experience than mine, and some knowledge of the cast you're welding to, if possible.
TamJeff may have some advice, if he sees this. He usually welds TIG on aluminum of any kind, but his knowledge of alloys and cast may be of help.

I have welded cast aluminum engine blocks before. Its not pretty though. You CAN do it. It just wont look pretty. Also make sure you clean everything really good
