Hey there,
I bought a second hand mig today. An old CIGWELD weldpak 150. Probably 25+ years old. From the the days when little migs held a 15kg spool.
$80 and the dude gave me a brand new reg off his new mig because he couldn't be bothered swapping it out. Bargain.
Play time tomorrow

Must be a good machine: they're still making them, for sale at $700 so you did well at $80!

Mick,
Can't wait to see your "play time" results. I am sure we will be dazzled.

Hey,
Gave machine a clean to day, checked inside, and powered it up, makes all the right noises and clicks. No wire yet and needs a new great ground clamp eyelet, but seems a goodun
I intend to use my argon cylinder, to test. I KNOW ITS NOT REALLY SUITABLE. but it will prove functionality.
The machine has a stitch weld setting, where you can set the weld time and off time, and all you do is hold your finger on the trigger and move the gun and she does the stitching for you. Not sure if it will be to useful, ha. Ah well.

Hey,
Got some wire today and fired her up. Bit of fine tuning and away we went. Because I have straight argon, it really didnt run well at all, but everything seems to work as it should.

Mick,
Glad it is working well! Can't wait to see some welds out of that beast. What gas are you going to run?

Hey mate,
I'll have to get onto some pics but the gas makes me look bad, hahaha.
What ever I can get my hands on, I'm hoping to "horse trade", as Jody says, my 3/4 bottle of Argon with another backyarder.

Mick,
I wish you were closer, I would be more than happy to trade or loan you a bottle. Might take a while to get to you on that boat.

I once liberated 25 lbs of stainless 309 filler wire from a dumpster. Flawless, 3-ft lengths.
"Liberated" That's a great word, eh?

Finally got a bottle of gas. Had to make a riser to get it to chain up. 0.6³ m which is something like 21.2cubic feet. $180 but I now own the bottle.

Mick,
Sad thing is, I vent over a million cubic feet of CO2 a day while making Hydrogen, and pay for a permit to do it.
