Hey guys time for another welding helmet right now we have a miller titanium 9400 works great, love the big viewing area! I was looking at the save phace and 3m speed glass I want something a little less bulky where I can turn my head without catching a corner and hope I dont give up to much viewing area. I also like the side windows on these two. Dose anyone have input on either of these hoods or both. Mostly do mig welding between 150-300 amps.

Few thoughts, I have used the Speed glas and personally did not like them but that was 6-7 years ago. I never could figure out why one needs the viewing area on the sides. When I was using one, I worked in a shop that was doing all tig alum and the guys beside me would "flash" me in those windows. Anyway, I would like to try the Save Phace one day. Buy one and let us know how you like it. Another helmet to consider is the Jackson Balder, it has a good viewing area and is pretty light.

I noticed that the Save Phace is advertising it weighs under 14 Oz I looked up our miller 9400 and it is sitting at around 20 oz. It seams that I am doing more and more out of position welding manly under things with low clearance. Any thoughts, I also noticed that the save phace only has 2 censors do you think this will cause a problem?

I have the Save Phase GenY and the biggest problem I have is the fact that it's so nice that I hate to get it dirty. It's light and I don't really have another good ADF helmet to compare it to. It's way better than the Jackson Huntsman that I use at work which I payed almost twice as much for. I use the El Cheapo HF helmets when I do any dirty work at home, which they do a fine job concidering they're $40 on sale.

The Save Phace does get into the tight places better than any of my other helmets though. The ability to look out of the side has come in handy on one occasion where I had to lay the helmet out in front of me and weld at arms length. I sometimes have to weld in the oddest places where there may be piping coming from several different directions and removing it to weld would require a full day, not an option. The sides of the lens are a fixed shade 10 so getting flashed from people welding around you is not a real issue.

I haven't had it all that long but I like what I see. Just my humble opinion.

have you considered the Jackson W60 Truesight, it has a different color lens then most helmets is very easy to see detail and color. Viewing area is very large and lightweight helmet. I have noticed when welding with it the lens let you see colors and detail in puddle and arc I never seen with other helmets. Helmet uses 4 sensors, solar panel with replaceable AAA batteries. Adjustments for shade, sensitivity, delay plus has grind, torch, and weld mode.

I always wanted to try that helmet to when I was crawling around in tight spots back when I was on the rr. There were a ton of times where the I'd have the helmet off, placed in front of me and welding at full arms length trying to see. Usually the hardest part was figuring out how to get to what needed welding.

I am leaning to the 3m speed glass 9100 series because its only shade 5 on the side and I will be welding along so I dont have to worry about getting blinded....

Dose any one know with the save phace if you can change the #10 to a #5 or #8?
