Is this possible???? or Dangerous ????

I have an old Century PowerMate 70 wirefeed welder. I also have a Miller Maxstar 150 STL inverter stick.

In order to get more power in a wirefeed (Fluxcore or Gas) than the 70 amps, I was thinking about powering the Century wirefeed stinger with the Maxstar (and use the Maxstar ground), and basically use the Century just to push the wire through.

Is this likely to work? What would be the problems?

Thanks
Gary

Mig power units are Constant Voltage.
Stick units are Constant Curent (amps).

MinnesotaDave,
Thanks for your reply. Although I am very new at welding, I thought that was the case. Does that mean it won't work or just that the weld is less predictable?

I guess related is, how do the machines that have both MIG and Stick handle it?

Thanks
Gary
