Vertical Up Remediation

We've been getting some heavy work through the bay doors as of late that need a vertical up weld....and being that I've gotten into the fabrication side of things I've usually opted to flip the piece rather than weld uphill.
What should my parameters be for 1/2'', 3/4'', and 1'' steel plate?

That'll require more info...
Carbon steel, I assume,
Dual-shield? Wire diameter?
I ran .045 dual-shield at 28.5V for 3/8" and above, all positions, with 75/25. I don't remember what the settings were for .080 and above, but they were heavier machines than the miller 251s I ran .045 on.
