Problem with welder sputtering

I have a Lincoln 210MP that's about 3 years old. Lately it seems like when I weld thicker stuff like 1/4" and up it seems to sputter a lot and not weld very well. I mess with turning wire speed up and down and it seems to help a little but not completely. Any ideas what might be going on?

Might be time for a new liner.

How’s the condition of the gun tip? Does it have spatter on the end that’s catching the wire, does it have a groove worn in it that’s pinching the wire?

Is your tension at the drive roll and at the brake set correctly?
