This is a friends machine. He and I were teaching a newbie on Mig Welding. He picked up very fast, we left him alone to do some welding. The machine has stopped feeding the wire. I put on a new spool of wire, took the shielding lense and wire nozzle off to feed the new wire through manually. Put the wire tensioner back on and tightened it down. When the machine is powered up it will not feed the wire. The motor rollers for the wire feed are turning when the trigger is depressed but will not feed the wire. I can manually push the wire through easily. Ive checked that the wire is in the groove on the wire feed roller. The machine worked just fine until we came to the end of the original wire spool. Everythi g appears to be mechanically working. Im at a loss as to what to look for or at next.

wrong size wire, incorrect rollers for the wire type or restriction ie liner or tip.

If you can push the wire by hand, I’d double check that the diameter of the wire matches the markings on the feeding rollers. Especially if you had the rollers off for some reason, some rollers are reversible, with 2 different diameter grooves for different wires

May need to check the actual wire diameter with a calipers. I’ve gotten wire that was miss labeled before.
