Stick welder doing MIG welding

I know It works in spray transfer quite well, but I was curious why it will do spray transfer but not short arc..
I only came about trying this out because I got myself a invertec 300 and a wire feeder and after messing with it on CV I flipped it over to CC just fir the hell of it, and it worked well in spray transfer but would not with short arc..
