Hi,
Has anyone used mixed helium gas say 50/50 or 80/20 helium/argon to weld copper about 10mm too 25mm thick (1/2inch- 1inch)
Some context, the welding is just rebuild work on copper lances that are used to deliver oxygen into a furnace, current repair procedure is to just heat until red hot and weld with "cu-si" wire and 100%argon, problem is you can never be sure you are really fusing into the copper and the weld always looks cold no matter how high you turn the machine up.
I will attach a photo soon hopefully give a better idea
mig and flux core tips and techniques, equipment, filler metal
