mig and flux core tips and techniques, equipment, filler metal
If you had no charts or information about wire speed and voltage, would the wire be set to one setting before burn though of metal and lower if bead bigger than material thickness then voltage to a setting just after stubbing to a slightly convex bead

Don't set it from stubbing as that is on the danger signs list for lack of fusion. Turn the wire speed right down so the machine makes a hiss with the occasional pop. Then you turn the wire up to where it makes a nice crackle.

Nope, Flux core is deceptive. Consider the fact that you are feeding a hollow tube instead of a solid wire, so wire speeds are a lot higher for a given voltage setting. And because of the additives in the wire, you don't get the crackle sound of solid wire, you get a lovely hiss like a fuse burning.

Feed your wire for 6 seconds then measure how much came out. Then plug your info into the miller mig / flux core calculator.

I have more questions than answers

weld on some scrap, doing the steps as above, adjust wire for a hiss, you can pump much more wire than you'd expect into a f/c weld, Once shes welding, make small adjustments either way with the wire speed to make the bead look better.
