Well I don't have it yet, but its paid for and on the way.

Now just to think of some kind of justification. I'm think plate alloy boat 8-)

I watched it count down to 0 seconds on ebay twice, last week and a relisting. I also found it on Gumtree for sale, listed 14 weeks ago

Googled the user name and its a pawn shop in SA. Offered $2500 and they took it. Has paperwork and probably still has warranty though I doubt I'll need it.

No mention in the ads of it being a pulse mig or even a mig. I think I found it by typing in EWM. Might have got more attention if they knew what it was they were selling. I asked a BOC rep the other day and its about 7k plus GST

Wow...well done!

That is a really high-spec'd, high power machine for pocket change. And it's white, so the finger print dust doesn't even show up!

(Kidding, kidding...)

Seriously, well done. You have snagged the bargain of 2017 just 5 days in. "Do you want me to pick it up for you? I'm in SA!"

I actually was casually looking at what EWM stuff was available. Couple weeks ago I asked on here about one as I'd seen them at BOC but wasn't sure if they are that good or just overpriced. Reason being is this model was on run out. Salesman mentioned it on Saturday when I was in there. They dropped the price to a ridiculous amount, 4 were sold on Friday and I got the last on Saturday.

4600 plus GST :(

Reduced to 800 plus  I know its only DC but for that money....

That was the bargain of late 2016

Warrranty is for 24/7 continuous use abiding by duty cycle of course for 3 years. I just entered the serial codes of both machines. TIG was new so no issue, the pulse mig had never been registered for warranty it seems, accepted the code and the purchase date of today.

I got this a few years ago on ebay for 350

https://www.boc.com.au/shop/en/au/boc-s ... vrd-welder

Not that I'd spend much more on MMA for all the use it gets. Is a handy little welder though, very compact and light.

I found out the other day the maker of this is also EWM.

I have a 250R BOC mig with remote, which is the old Kemppi model, but I think I might be selling that now.

We just bought about 20 or more of the ewm pulse migs for a new job. I start using them when I go back after holidays. I've never really pulsed migged anything, so we'll see what happens.

Pretty nice machine there! cant argue with 100% duty cycle at 180A and 60% at 240A

Love to hear how it goes. Do you know the job yet? Aluminium or steel?

This write up got me thinking.

It Chro-Molly pipe. Building the subframes for these guys. They already have a number of these machines. They seem to be playing nicely.

Just picked it up from the freight depot 8-)

Heavy bastard of a thing though, I think they just put a handle on it so it looks portable ;)

Really decent looking machine Rupes.

Looking forward to seeing some welds.

Yeah,

Brilliant piece of kit, as you might say on the Australian continent.

We in North America have not seen the EWM units imported from Germany yet, that I know of.

I think I heard Fronius may be breaking into the N.A. marketplace though.

Thats more like what the say in England.

We say things like "thats a flash looking banger", "its got all the bells and whistles" or "it's got everything that opens and shuts" as well as any number of non PG rated things.

I used the welder today.

Its funny to use,(pulse sounds like a small chainsaw)the settings seemed like it should be cold, but it had really nice power. Doing small runs of butt welds and 6mm fillet welds with 1.2 90s d2 wire. BTW we took of those silly looking guns with all the buttons and fitted a normal bernard gun.

Oh dood, that was the post mix feature. You could have poured yourself a coke while filling a butt. :)

I've got a Binzel on the other mig, but I can't afford to buy another torch right now. Spent too much money on welders as it is. Besides as it came its set up for aluminium with a teflon liner, so I'll leave it for now. Only issue with the torch is the neck seems a bit long.

Sweet. We don't have much control over our settings. The ground work for the programs has been done, just allowed to have a little tweek with the volts or the arc control settings. Different welder to what I'm used to, but this work is also different.

The best bit is no spatter and being able to run slightly out of position without the puddle falling out.
