mig and flux core tips and techniques, equipment, filler metal
Ok I finally got around to getting my hands on a bottle of stainshield 69 cost me $315 for a size G bottle as this is the only size they would supply it in. I was quoted $215 for stainshield 66 for the same size bottle.

I had a bit of a play around with the roll of 0.9mm of mystery stainless wire I have running a few beads on scrap and trying a few butt welds on some scrap tube.
At first I tryed the Argosheild light, I found It very hard to control heat I can get a good bead but only on my welders lowest setting and penetration is a bit much. It throws out a bit of spatter but its ok seems it would be good on thicker material. I tryed a few butt welds on 2mm thickness material and I blow quite quickly.

Now for the Stainshield 69 heat is much more controllable with me being able to set my welder to setting 3. My welder is an old Uinimig 175 the amperage slection is a bacic large knob with clicking sections 1 through to 8. Very minimal spatter flatter bead and penetration it not over the top. Butt welding blow through is much less but still a bit of an issue for me.
As you mentioned Steve S running smaller diameter wire will be a better option. I can get 0.8mm wire easily or my I maybe able to get some 0.6mm if that would be a better size.
Any tips or feedback would be great

Personally, I think I'd choose the 0.8 with the easy access, for two reasons.
One, you're already in the ballpark with your settings, so adjustment will be minimal (likely about 10-15% increase in wire speed).
Two, you likely are already set up for it. It's common for drive rollers to be "reversible" to select 0.8 and 0.9, and the torch liner will likely handle the two the same (torch liners come in "ranges", and yours is likely 0.8-0.9). Going to 0.6 will likely require the purchase of new drive rollers and a new liner, where 0.8 will only need a tip change (and 0.8 will run in a 0.9 tip when it's new, behaving like a worn tip).
