Hi all,
Looking at buying a new Syncowave 250 DX, I see that on the 210 you can do both Mig and Tig, can I run a Mig gun on the Syncowave 250. Getting ready to start a aluminum welding project.
Thanks for the info......

RWS,
The 210 will do mig but it is a spool gun and it is a extra option. The Syncrowave 250 DX is TIG/STICK only. Here is a link for you.

What are you primarily going to be welding? That will help determine which machine is a good fit.

That is what I thought reading the spec sheets, just was hoping I had missed something.

Going to build a boat in my shop. I have a Bobcat 250, but don't think the wife wants to listen to that thing run at all hours. I have a LN-25 wire feed and was checking into changing out the drive rollers and liner to run a soft wire. I have been doing much research and everything I read seems to lean towards the 250 and not the 210.
I weld with innnersheild and stick doing heavy marine construction work, so jumping into a new ballpark with the Tig and aluminum.
Thanks for your input and help.

the 210 is an inverter machine in the synchrowave line that has traditionally been transformers, right?

Im pretty sure the 210 is still a transformer. I almost bought one....and I don't think it's a bad machine at all. You have to buy the cards for DC pulse and AC but my buddy said there's all kinds of parameters u can download onto an extra disk which an empty card from miller was like 35$. An u can use it on 110v/220v....Idk I've never used a spoolgun but I like the idea. U can find the 210 with everything online at ebay WITH the spoolgun VERY reasonably compared to retail prices. I saw w/spoolgun on ebay was a lil cheaper than getting it from a dealer! At least 3 lws around me. I mean if u have the means to buy a syncrowave 250dx I mean Id do that personally but if u ain't trying to spend that kinda money...a lil less than half the price would still get a great machine in the 210! My opinion only formed from my experience with both machines. Good luck...let us know what u choose!!

I am thinking about just getting a Miller 350 invertor and run a spool gun off of that. Seems for about the same money I get more machine for my shop. Yes can't run ac tig, but most of the welding will be done with mig anyway.
Thanks for your input, it all helps.

RWS,
The 210 is a inverter. I can't figure out why Miller would call it a Syncrowave when it is inverter based and than moniker has always been rectifier. I believe there are still a few things that need to be considered before taking the plunge. The 210, being a inverter, draws about half the amps of the 250. If you do not have the power in your shop that will determine which you will want.
For the money, I would go with the 250. It will put out 310 amps vs 210 amps which will come in handy more often than not. Really in my opinion, if you are purchasing a TIG welder you might not even need a mig. Both machines have great features and one on the 210 is the MVP. Now the thing I don't get is why make it a multi-voltage when it is so big? You can't easily load it in the back of your truck to take on mobile repairs, like say the Diversion series.
Just a few thoughts to consider.

Thanks for all the input. I was told that there would be a good deal of welding on this boat
I thought it would be nice to be able to Mig when running the long welds and use the Tig for the tight spots and places that would be seen more. I guess it all comes down to money. Have been wanting to get the Miller 350 XMT cc/cv invertor for a long time. May go that route, run a spool gun off of it and then come up with a machine to run AC Tig.
Thanks again for all the feed back.....

Keep in mind that if you go with the 210 to use the spool gun your duty cycle will still not be that high. Not saying you would exceed its limit but something to consider......
