Hey guys I am running my Hobart 450 Mega Mig with a spray master 450 gun pushing .045" Corex versatile wire. I have had great luck running it flat but my vertical ups are giving me some problems any advise I have tried just stitching it along with working arrows up I have had a problem with them either not setting or running behind my puddle.

Any input would be great! You guys are great!

Jason_alex,
I have not used this specific wire, but know that these can make beautiful welds vertical up. You did not state your volts and wire speed, so I looked up the specs. On page two it lists the recommended settings for all positions. Check your settings and get back to us.

Alight check settings, 27 volts and around 320 ipm. My main problem on vertical up is it would start running down, but I was welding out side corners seamed to be melting away the corner causing the run granted fit up was not the best.

.045 flux-core (dual shield).
27V.
320IPM.

You're WAY low on wire speed. Up it at least 80IPM, and begin working UP from there.

That's a "solid wire" or "unshielded flux-core" setting.

Alright steve.

Hey one more question can you still run the e technique or do you have to stay ahead of the puddle to prevent the slag from getting taped?

Thank you Steve and Jonathan

That's a good question. I always just went side-to-side, holding the toes and crossing the center rather quickly, with a near straight 90* gun angle. I'd push just a little on vertical up, and a little bit more on overhead, and drag just slightly on flat and horizontal.

It's been so many years since I've done dual-shield regularly that I don't completely trust my own advice at this point...

The side to side is the way I have done it. I think you still have it Steve :D

I have only tried side to side because I was worried about the slag getting under the the weld.

Any one know where to go to get a good video on this or some more information.... Not much out there on this it seams like.
