I have a Hobart Ironman 210. I installed the 207642 kit for the toggle switch, and picked up a Spoolmate 185 gun used for a good deal. I chose not to install the gas diverter piece of the kit as it was going to be a somewhat tight fit and the amount of aluminum I will be doing didn't seem to warrant a permanent valve install. My question is, is there any issue with running my gas straight off the flow meter to the spool gun? Any input would be appreciated. Also, I was going to buy the 3035 gun or USA weld spool gun, until I found a smoking deal on the 185. It came with 3 one pound spools of 5356 and the SGA 100 control box for $300. I don't need the control box for my welder so am hoping to sell it and help pay for the spool gun, it was a deal I couldn't pass up. Just a little background on why I bought this particular spool gun. I also plan to get a welder that will handle spray transfer, and run 0.45 dual shield at some point. My idea about putting the spool gun on my Hobart is it was my great grandpa's welder and he has passed away. It has sentimental value and am hoping by making this my "aluminum mig welder" it will always be around for it's purpose of welding aluminum, even if I hardly use it once I get a newer machine it will be there in the waiting when an aluminum project comes up.
