Hello,
Contact tip and stick out seem very important.
However, using my ESAB C200i, I cannot adjust the contact tip. It's recessed like 2,8mm.
The scope of use would be sheet metal welding (0,6 / 0,8 mm)
I know I could saw a bit of the nozzle...
But other than that, M6 threaded contact tips seem not to exist in different lengths.
Well, actually, they do, but they are a bit larger, as you can see in the attachment.
I have the first three, M6 25mm. The 3 in the middle are also M6 28mm, but larger.
How does that impact the flow of the gas?
Or does it impact something else?

Try trimming the shroud back flush. Shrouds are a consumable item so you can afford to muck around with it. Also the specific brand of tip doesn't necessarily matter, as long as the thread is the same.
CWD and stick out beyond the nozzle matter more that the distance of the tip to the nozzle in my opinion. You might be attempting to arrange atoms in the middle of a hail storm with too much theory interfering with your practical execution of technique.
I do appreciate that you are attempting to learn how to do things properly and configure your equipment for the best results, but I dare say people have been welding for nearly 100 years with primitive equipment and producing perfectly strong, appealing welds without so much concern to some of the factors we focus on today. The best equipment won’t make a good welder, but a good welder can make better welds with good equipment (if you know what I mean). And some welders don’t care in the least about their equipment; they still produce perfect work.

And yes, I know, I’m just like that. I like to ‘know’ things or at least investigate. Maybe because I have a scientific background
But, yes, as soon as my electrical ground is up to date, I’ll start welding miles and miles . Nothing beats practice, you’re right.
