Unbreakable TIG cup-@superiorwelding

I wanted to post this here to get some feedback for a TIG cup I have developed and am currently in the testing phases of. Currently we have #6, #8 and #10 cups done that will fit on the 9, 20, etc series gas lens and the stubby gas lens for the 17, 26, etc. The whole idea is to have a cup that will not break, and as a bonus you can use it as a hammer.

The cup(s) shown are prototypes and probably will chance a little before they are released but you get the idea.

Aiming to be the first guy in Australia with one of these... :D

Won't have the skills to use it, but at least I won't be able to break it when I get frustrated.

I see.

Wonder if these will be ready in time for Christmas? Would love to fit out the little Size 9 torch I have on the way with a set of these puppies.

My secret agent says that they are working on a patent. I'm not sure, but that sounds like a long Road ahead.

Yeah, the Patent road generally is.

That's okay, I'll just grab one of those little Fupa babies to satisfy my urge for fancy cup bling in the meantime...

Skilled enough to use it? Nup. Nice to have? Yep.

Depending on how things go we might release a limited batch before the holidays but can't guarantee that. The patent process is a long one and I don't want to release to soon. There will be some floating around that will be and have been sent to other welders for beta testing and feedback so you might hear some honest opinions here soon.

To all-

Jon was kind enough to bring the cup to the LWS and show it to me. Although I haven't tested it (which I'm not sure what that would be worth anyway with my limited TIG experience), I was very impressed with the design and overall concept. Looking forward to seeing this project develop!

Jon - the endorsement is free.

I think it's made out of recycled chipping hammers after watching the video of him beating the snot out of it. Now I see why he needed an unbreakable tig cup. I'm not sure if he read the manual, but I didn't think there should be any slag to chip when you're done tig welding. :)

probably something like super-hardened 8740 or 300M billet steel, somewhere around 80 Rockwell-C, lol
