Hi all hope you can help me with this
I build and fix plastic injection moulds for an automotive supplier
We have a mould that is made out of Thyssen Thyrotherm 2344 H13 steel
The guys I work with have been welding this tool over the years using 309 and 316 SS rod
I don't agree with doing that and I would like to do a better job and have it last longer
I have read online that people are getting good results welding h13 steel with h11 rod with pre and post heating
Color match is not important in this area. It just that it has a good resistance to ware.
Thanks In advance

it can become very hard to work with after welding
that's one of the reasons the guys like to use the SS rod
i found this web page saying use h11 rod so i thought i would ask and see if anyone had tried it
http://www.simplytoolsteel.com/H-13-too ... sheet.html
or if they had tried anything different that worked

That page does state "Use H-11 or other hot work tool steel filler material." Since that is a tool steel site I presume that their recommendations on weld filler is to match the base material.CanMoulder wrote:it can become very hard to work with after welding

I now understand better what your looking for, something harder then stainless, but not as hard as the base material. I would recommend using their contact page (or call them) to ask your question.
