Steady-Grip problem solved

Just got a new CK Steady-grip control and flex-lock torch. The control came with two velcro straps attached and a third in the box. There is a perfectly sized slot at the front of the control just like where the other two straps go so I went ahead and put the third strap in and cinched them all down. Then the problems began. sometimes it would work fine and other times my 280DX would display "RMT 4A" and would not weld. After a few calls to Miller and CK, I found out the slot where I put the third strap is for some yet-to-be-announced accessory CK plans to introduce. Long story short, if you put the third velcro strap in the front slot of a steady-grip control, it will malfunction. Hope this saves someone some headache.
Cheers.

I bought the CK with the spring loaded wheel that returns to off, problem is, I think they used a clutch return spring from an Eaton 10 speed transmission. When I get a chance I'll take it apart and find a lighter spring. I don't like it any better than the Miller I had, but the lighter spring might make it tolorable.

Eldon,
I believe that is for the foot pedal that is supposed to come out at FABTECH 2015. Should be pretty sweet, you will literally put thet Steady-Grip inside the pedal and have a 2-in-1 set up.

Jonathan,
Problem with that is , then you'll have to learn to walk the cup with your foot, not sure I'm going to like that. :) All pipe welders will soon look like Elvis doing socket welds.
