Greetings y'all. Since I can't use a foot pedal, I'm always on the lookout for better options for amperage control. I have the rotary thumb control on my 280DX that I think is Miller's own. I just saw the Steady-Grip hand control on the CK Worldwide site. Does anyone here have any experience with this particular control? What I'm using now is very hard to taper off cleanly at the end of a bead. I stub my tungsten way too much
Thanks.

If that's the clip on pistol grip that I think was new at Fabtech this year Wyatt did a quick review of it - probably not many out there yet to get feedback on.

I just ordered CK's wheel that is spring loaded and returns to zero automatically, I'll let you know how it works when it gets here.

P. S. It's not the pistol grip, it's just a flat wheel type.

As much as I hate to do it, here's a Mr. Tig video on it.

Just a couple welders and a couple of big hammers and torches.

A spring loaded wheel that returns to zero by itself may be all I need. It's when I try to taper off that my hand movements usually stub the electrode.

Eldon,
Here a link to CK's catalog; http://www.ckworldwide.com/Catalog.pdf and I ordered mine at Weldfabulous.com as they seem to be the only one who list it. They didn't have mine in stock but they said it should ship in 3-5 days.
Len
P. S. it was around $170 with a 28' cable.

I used to have a finger control that slid forwards and backwards. Worked much better than say the TA186 style wheel. Looked like this one from USAWELD. http://www.usaweld.com/Hand-Amperage-Co ... rol201.htm

I tore the foot pedal apart on my Eastwood machine and made this control from some of the pieces.
