Chatting to a mate about panel repair, rust holes and what not. Didnt think at the time but would sil bro dc tig be a possible option, he was migging, and making a bit of a dogs breakfast of it.

On the internet I've seen, but can't find now a video on the subject. Not good for unibody or structural stuff. It doesn't need as much heat.

Much softer of a weld.
You can weld at lower amperages, and still puddle good.
Mig is not very good for patch panels in fenders.
I think your method should work....

You wont be pooling the base metal at all.
less heat will mean less distortion,less time.the main drawback of lower tensile strength is fairy irrelevant as its only body panels etc.

They used MIG brazing on some of the newer vehicles with boron and HS steels, trying to avoid brittle HAZ's. For body panels, you should be fine. S/F.....Ken M
