I have a very respected friend who told me to try Monel Filler Metal 60 for my cast repairs and gave me 2 pieces to try it. He says it requires no preheat and welds like butter. Question is has anyone else used this product for any cast iron repairs. I am not doubting him, just wondering if anyone else has used it.

Jon,
It welds nice on Monel, but I've never welded anything else with it though, so I can't say how it does on cast. Can't see any good reason that would keep it from working though. I think I would flame wash the cast with a O/A torch to get most of the junk cooked out before I started though, it doesn't like impurities.

I guess that really wasn't an answer, sorry.

Now go melt something.

Len,
Thanks for the reply. I will bake out impurities first. I do not have any broken cast right now or I would go out and give it a shot. I do not want to try it on a customers material and find out it does not work or have to go through a learning curve with out advice first. Thanks
