Welding Tips and Tricks

Been a while since i posted on here. I start testing this week at school and wanted to know if there was any thingi should really be working on to practice or any tips you might have. Here's a 6G on 4 inch pipe I did yesterday

have you cut any straps from your practise pieces? what does the inside root look like?

I started taking my test today. I was just going to prep it and get it ready for tomorrow but I started today
I did the root from the 6 o clock position to the 12 and was shaky and started messing up due to being nervous. It wasn't as smooth on the face side but my teacher said it's OK on the root. Frustrating and very disappointed because my root is usually my best pass and I slipped up. Hopefully I can come in tomorrow and save it. I definitely should be just waited for tomorrow
