How far can you push the max amp rating of a air cooled torch? I've got 2 torches now 9 & 17. Been doing some aluminum at 165 amps and wondering if the 17 is way maxed out to the poin't of needing to buy another torch. If I need to upgrade can I use the 17 hose and just buy the head?

Actually you are maxed out for the 17 at 150 amps. You can go over max rating to a point depending on how long you make your welds and how hot the torch gets. You will probably need to go to a 26 that is rated at 200 amps. Unfortunately you will have to buy the whole torch set-up as the fittings for the 17 are smaller than for the 26. Hope that helps.
