Welding Tips and Tricks

Im looking for a cheap welding machine to practice pipe welding anybody have any suggestions? What should I look for when getting a machine for pipe welding?

I bought a longevity tig 200 its DC only but it stick welds pretty good, customer support is excellent, it had a couple minor probs like the foot pedal didnt work but they sent me another fast. Other than that for the price its an excellent welder.

What do yall think about the EVERLAST PowerARC 160STH High Frequency Start TIG / Stick IGBT Welder 110v/220v? Its on Amazon for $429

You should call everlast themselves, ill bet u money u can get them to come down on price. I got mine 75 xheaper plus tbey paid for the fifty dollar shipping. I was talking to everlast also an they were willin to comw down but I had alreadt bought the longevity

I've got a 160STH. Good basic machine, HF start is nice. I use one for field maintenance type work, although at the moment, it's sitting in the basement of my new house. I was putzing with some shelves. S/F......Ken M
