i have a metric flow meter on my everlast 250ex. for getting a starting place on flow rates for different cups, i have been using the the same flow as size cup. for example, if i am using a #6 cup i put the flow on 6 litres/min. if i use a gas lens i set one number lower, so is i am using a #6 gas lens i use 5 litres/min. does this sound right? i have always had a hard time figuring out flow rates, even with the cu ft/ hr gauges. any tips on finding the right gas flow? mild steel and aluminum is what i mostly weld. is it possible that different torches might need different flow rates even with the same cup? thanks for any help on this.

Here's a rule of thumb for flowmeters...

The ball should be 1-1 1/2 inches (25 to 40 cm) above it's resting point.
