Tig brazing or welding a hydraulic fitting?

I want to close a steel hydraulic fitting and then redrill a 1/8” hole in it as a restrictor to slow down a hydraulic cylinder. Using it on a log lift for a wood splitter.
Any tips on best way? I didn’t know if I should use a certain rod, use what I normally do, and anything with the heat going to make the metal to hard to drill into after the fact?
Thanks,
Lenny
