G3500 Cast Iron

Wondering if anybody on here has experience welding G3500 Cast Iron. Looking for procedures in particular. Will be Tig welding using Nickel99 filler.

Hi, just my experience with welding cast iron......I use a Multiplaz 3500 plasma welder and I have welded cast iron with plain steel welding rods very successfully, that is to say you don't need to have any special welding rods or procedure or even a preheat or a slow cool down.
I think the weld zone you get is an alloy of steel and cast iron that forms a medium carbon composite with properties of both metals.....it is machinable with HSS tools or carbide too.
The process does not require veeing out the weld area as the plasma can penetrate as deep as you need but with a crack situation it is advisable to drill the ends of the crack before the weld.
