First time ever tiggin...
Thoughts?

They look very good for a beginner. Work on your heat control and dab spacing. Recommend scribing lines into the metal for something to follow and to help get the muscle memory to weld nice straight lines when needed, which is often.

Run the drill of making a bead with even dab spacing, even width, and in a straight line over and over and over again. Once you get that perfect bead, make a bead that looks like that a few dozen more times. Practice everyday, and keep posting pics!

Thanks for the pointers. The orange plume... ha. That made me chuckle. And yes.. it did happen... ha I think I’m on the right track for a self taught (and YouTube) welder. Practice and drills will be on the agenda.

That's really all you need. I took the same youtube class. Graduated with honors, summa cum laude

I've had a lot of people try tig for their first time with my machine here at work. I'd say you're in the top 10% for getting the hang of it early on. Try to think about the torch angle, it looks like you're a bit too far leaned over with the torch which is common when you're trying to see what you're doing. Almost everyone does it to some extent. Watch and learn in videos and you'll be making nice pretty colored welds in no time.
