Welding Tips and Tricks

Trying to perfect lap & fillet joints.
Jody's bead on 11 guage lap joints are tiny compared to mine on plate twice that size.
I noticed his tungstens look to have a really steep grind, though I understood that reduced penetration.
I tried a steeper grind and that helped a bit. I think.
Am I imagining the improvement, or dies this make sense?

It makes sense, but you need to be able to hold a tight arc and consistent travel to put it in the way Jody does.
