Hi All,

Can someone give me an opinion on this please? I am a sculptor and I would like to tig some stainless steel sheet, at right angles to some mild steel. The stainless sheet goes on the outside of the edge of the mild steel. Obviously its going to be a bit of a challenge given the thin stainless steel. I have mocked up a picture of what I am aiming for but I dont understand how to do an image upload on this site. I have about 3 yards of welding to do. Would it be enough to just tack the edge of it every 6 inches? There is no load on it, its just got to stick on and stay.

Has anyone done anything remotely like this before? If anyone has, would they please give me a heads up on amperage etc so I dont have to wreck a whole lot of steel!

Thanks for any advice you might give.

You need to use 309 filler. Done it lots. Tacks may be enough. Use a pedal or thumb wheel. Probably max out at 40 amps. But you will use much less once it puddles.
I have more questions than answers

The weld joint needs to be clean, and no gap where you'll be welding (or tacking).

I'm guessing the picture you uploaded has nothing to do with what you're welding??

amperage is but just one dimension. There are at least 10 more variables at play. Don't practice on the actual project. Use spare parts first.
