Welding Tips and Tricks

Is it OK, or bad, or frowned upon, to set a torch up with a stubby gas lens, then use the full gamete of cup lengths?
Just trying to limit parts and time. (Rarely weld anything critical, just tend to find myself in non conventional situations)

Works fine.

the other way is to use the long style gas lens. its narrower than the stubby.
