I am just starting out with a "unimig" 140amp DC invertor with lift TIG function. I am atempting to weld 20 guage(0.9mm) sheet metal for automotive repairs. The problem I am having is that it appears to be too hot and I am getting burn through, the welder is set at 10A(lowest it will go, and I have a flow of 10L/min argon/co2, I am using 1.6mm electrodes sharpened to 30 degrees. I have the torch attached to the negative, and my clamp is in the positve.
What am I doing wrong?

Is my welder too big? Do I need a high frequency unit?
I will be getting some clean scrap to practice on and will be percivering until I get it down pat.
Any help you guys can offer in the meantime would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards
Ben
