ok what is best way to shorten tungstens for mid or short back caps

1.cutting seems right to me but what to use?

2. snaping seems wrong as not to fracture it.

3.tungsten grinder right but rather not spend 300- up for tool

just starting out want to get good habits not dumb ones. lol

Best to use the edge of a grinding wheel and grind them in half while slowly spinning the tungsten. Then grind the proper tip into the "cut" ends.

That's how I do it too when needed. Often I have one that I've been using a while that is now short enough.

Smooth is the answer, and don't snap.

thanks for the tips that what i was looking for i guess i am ready to try tig welding and dip my tungesten a bunch of times lol

I use a 3" air cut-off tool to slice them up. I don't like to use the corner of the grinding wheel because I like to keep it nice and square as I can.
