Argon = 195 tax included .

I just exchanged my 125 scf argon tank at Airgas the other day in Union City, CA. The price was $105.33. I've never bought a tank that large (330) but they are expensive. I've been lucky enough to inherit or find old tanks to trade in. I had to buy a small 40 scf nitro tank several years back and I seem to remember it was a couple hundred dollars so I think you're in the ballpark.

NO, I rent my 330 argon bottle, my first fill was $38, now I should add that was with the purchase of a machine, however I don't believe it'll change much on refill. We've had these threads before and I've never seen the numbers your getting

I thought our refills were a bit pricy at around $50-$60. That seems extra high.

That price sounds like a purchase price of the cylinder with lots of markup for them. Supplier arrangements vary regionally and by company, and whether you buy or rent/lease depends on your financial preferences. If you buy, though, >you< are responsible for cylinder maintenance, such as valve repair and testing.

Frankly, the refill price they gave you is absurd. Do yourself a favor and shop around!

If you like this LWS then it sounds like you just need to build a relationship with them. Often they will jack up the price if they don't know you well. If they think that your a one time purchaser then they want to make there cut from that one visit. Explain to them that you live close by,that you're just getting started out, or that you're looking to start a business. Shop there and check prices even if you don't buy anything. Try to buy even some of your small stuff that you would normally buy off the Internet or elsewhere there. And don't be afraid to talk to a sales rep about getting a better pricing schedule.

Shut up guys and don't complain... ;)

Changed a 140 cf bottle yesterday, 100$ and that's below list price.
5$ surcharge for the integrated regulator but not even close your prices.

Yep! Welcome to the Bay Area for pricing. And its not like we have a lot of choices; Airgas, Praxait and Alliance are about it for me. I'm sure a refill in San Francisco will be even more! I don't know if Airgas "rents" cylinders but you can ask. Good luck.

Aire Liquide bought out AirGas.
It might get better, it might get worse.
We shall see.
