NO MORE Lincoln Viking helmets for me

I bought a Lincoln Viking helmet a couple of years back. Jody said he really liked them. There
not cheap. My complaints are this. They eat batteries like a mouse eats cheese. The screen is
great if you can get it back into the helmet with out breaking the cheap slide plastic latches.
I have NEVER had this problem in 50 years of welding. NO more Lincoln welding helmets for
me. They spent more R&D on the lenses then the TWO dollar cheap helmet they housed it in.
I have the dam lenses ducked taped in the helmet now till I can buy another. You can bet this
will not be the only post I will post on the net.

I've had mine for three years at least and I've only changed batteries once.

My 3350 went through the first battery in 6 months or so I think.
I think its meant for sit down workbench welding which is primarily where I use mine. Everything else I use my BOSS brand (cheapo <$100) helmet. I wouldn't want to weld overhead in the Lincoln either. If I had my time over I would have bought an Optrel.

My theory is buy your helmet from a specialised manufacturer. You don't buy shoes from Chevy, do you....(Insert joke hi-tops pic here)

Same here. I really like mine. My buddy us a boilermaker and he tried my hood and went out and bought one for himself.

But on a serious note I had a Lincoln Viking and didn't really care for it. Since then I've had a speedglass 9100xx and a Jackson truesight 2 and loved them both.

Here is the deal. My helmet is a Viking 3350. The retaining frame latches do not whole the lenses in & I looked up the parts # KP4004-1. They said I must call them for a price. I tried
to e-mail them of that sight with no luck. So much for product support . Hell I would buy one if I could get hold of some one. I live in east Oklahoma & my closest dealer
is 50 miles from me. I though I could order one from them over the net?
Fly PS I finally found a replacement at Welding supply. I was about to order a different helmet.

I believe in your owners manual there is a parts breakdown on page 9 you can find the part number for part 8.

What about miller helmets are any good ? miller elite or similar , I got 2 chepo masks and it went out not working so I bought
from ebay a replacement with 10 buck did not work either so
i have not a helmet now any suggestions are appreciated. A good cheap alternative is parweld helmet of 60 buck that are
reasonably good ...

+1
Exactly, not sure why I bought the Lincoln, but it was the first helmet that cost a bit of money and I think I had my mind set on a bit viewing area and didn't really like the 3M's. But yeah I agree totally, better to buy from a specialist manufacturer.

Well I do like the clarity of it. Good to hear you have not any issues. But I have & I hope I wont
in the future. Right now I,m using my cheap auto darkling & its not to bad, but not as clear.
It only has 2 censers but 90% of my welding on the table. I wish I could afford a $400 helmet
but to many other things I need more.

This helmet above may be a little out of $60 range but not a lot. I have been reading a lot about it, I like
what I hear. Look at frame head gear. They say this helmet can be fine tuned way above the others. I.,
thinking getting one in the future. I hope someone on this form that has one can comment.
