My buddy brought me over a bunch of 347 SS filler and I am just wondering if there is any use for it other than welding 347. Is it compatible with other 300 series material? I was under the assumption that you can weld any 300 series or 400 series base metal with any 300 series rod and be ok depending on the application.

I've used it on headers and turbo manifolds... You can use it on 321 and 347, and is good above 880°F, wets out very nice, has a little Nb in it. If you want to get rid of any let me know
Pretty much can use it on ay 300 series stainless structurally with no issue, unless strength at higher temps, resistance to corrosives, food grade properties need to be matched.

I weld stainless, stainless and more stainless...Food Industry, sanitary process piping, vessels, whatever is needed, I like to make stuff.

321 is titanium-stabilized, 347 is niobium-stabilized.
Thanks Oscar....Oscar wrote:Rick_H wrote:exnailpounder wrote:321 is titanium-stabilized, 347 is niobium-stabilized.

Thanks guys! I am getting quite the selection of "exotic" SS rods and becoming quite the hoarder so "no rods for you" Rick I will see if my buddy can get me some more and if he can I will send some up to you.

I'm starting to realize that I have a collection of stuff I'll probably never use but dammit I'm ready for anything now!Oscar wrote:I have 347 in 0.035" and 0.045" if you need any. Why I have them I have no idea.
