Setting Amperage

Hey guys I recently bought a Everlast powertig 185 inverter and I'm having trouble setting the amps to the right heat for the different thickness of aluminum plate I'm trying to weld. I'm not sure if it just me not having a clue what I'm doing or what but I've been arc welding for 15 years now, and I know what its suppose to look like. Any information on how to set my machine up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeff

1A per 0.001" of thickness + 50% additional. 7sec post flow. 0 downslope if you are using footpedal. AC Freq I prefer around 100-120Hz. Cleaning 65-75%.
The thickest you will reasonably be able to weld is around 1/8" with no preheat. 3/16" with pre-heat. Don't even attempt 1/4".
What thickness are you currently trying to weld and how much amperage are you attempting to use?

You do %50 over the thousandths?
Or over the amperage after you get your 1A per 0.001", you end up with the same final amperage.

Just to note before you come back saying that you blew your tungsten apart, that when he is saying cleaning 65-75%, it will be 25-35% on the dial on your Everlast. Lincoln/Miller/ESAB measure AC Balance in %EN, Everlast and some other import manufacturers measure in %EP. If you turn your dial to 65-75% you'll be welding with a severe imbalance towards EP, and will have one hell of a time welding like that unless you have 5/32 or bigger tungsten!
