As you noticed the labels are colored by type of rods. Tubes labeled depending on what's in tube the system works as follows
Yellow = steels example ER70-S2, ER80-D2
Blue = Stainless steels 308L, 309L you get idea
silver = titanium
Orange = aluminum
Red = aluminum bronze
Green = silicone bronze and copper (currently out of)
Black = magnesium
Now short used rods work a little differently I have 3 tubes that are 1/2 inch in diameter. These tubes mounted on other tube rack where excess rods go or stuff I don't have room for on cart. Short rods broken into three classifications and labeled accordingly. I can mix a few of these together cause there is a physical appearance difference plus all rod I get is stamped on both ends so one end is always marked.
First one is Steel and stainless steels grouped together.
Second on is aluminum and silicone bronze and aluminum bronze
Third is magnesium and titanium
Size of tube makes difference to
1 1/2 inch tubes hold 10 lbs except aluminum each one holds 5 so aluminum takes 2 tubes reason for the other rack excess rod
3/4 inch tubes used for rods that I only keep 1 to 3 lbs of
1/2 inch tubes are mixed tubes with used wire at most might be 1 section of each rod in tube.
why use standard nozzles after gas lens where invented. Kinda of like starting fires by rubbing sticks together.
