You're right, from what I've read most gasoline IC engines will run around ~1200-1400°F at wide-open-throttle. I suppose when speaking of Nascar or other professional organizations, EGT's are carefully monitored in order to properly assess the suitability of the filler metal to the joint in question.Braehill wrote:Silicon Bronze melts at around 1800*F, don't think there's too many engines out there running exhaust temps in that neighborhood, I might be wrong though.
