I have am old cast iron chair that is used as a garden ornament. One of the legs had broken off and needs welded. Besides the typical cleaning and beveling what else needs done and what rod would be used?
My advice is to use "EZ WELD TIG WIRE" for this repair, here is the link to their website https://ezweldtigwire.com/
Watch the tube on how to prep, its easy to use, is strong and pre/post heat/peening not required.
Just don't go putting big bevels in your prep otherwise you will have to braze or other involved process.
